Coca-Cola South Africa
In 1886, a pharmacist from Georgia stirred up a caramel-coloured liquid and combined it with carbonated water. In the first year, he sold only nine glasses of Coca Cola a day. Today, an estimated 1.8 billion servings are sold across the world, every day. The first Coca Cola was sold in South Africa in the 1930s, and locally the company has grown to sell 25 brands out of 17 facilities that employ approximately 9 000 people.
South Africa’s oldest media independent, The Media Shop, was established in 1988. The company employs 150 individuals and specialises in media planning and booking. This includes, but is not limited to, developing media strategies, media sponsorships, competitive analysis, communication and media modelling, and media buying and administration services. It has an in-house digital strategy division which takes care of media strategy and placement, creative design and development, and more.
